Project 2....done

I have been searching for a new way to more easily contain my "needs attention" paper work, instead of just throwing it in a pile on my counter and desk. I found the coolest organizing system from Pottery Barn...

I especially liked the letter bin compartments...
so I was planning on asking Shannon to buy this first piece for me for my birthday, but then I got to thinking how much I'd spend once I finally had all the pieces I wanted, and I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
I decided there must be something I could make that would meet my needs and cost half the price. This is what I came up with...
Before:an office style plastic letter bin (75 cents @ the D.I.)

After:
mod-podge on some fabric (I used a dark blue pin stripe) ($0) and add a little ribbon (&0)
(Shannon says it's a little too fru-fru)

total cost...75 cents!!!!

This was my practice bin, to make sure it would turn out how I envisioned. And it did! So now I just have to decide on a fabric and embellishments (I'm thinking ribbon and hanging tags with the days of the week or something cute) and I plan to make a few more and maybe mount them on one long board to make it look a little fancier, but that will come with time. I only needed one to start with!

Cross two projects off the list!
