It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Our holiday preparations are underway! First we trimmed the tree and hung the stockings with care, etc. etc.. Then we made our traditional gingerbread houses. This year I made a couple of A-frames to make the dough go farther. I have another style of house to try next year (it has a lot more pieces to it, so I didn't do it this year). This is the first year that my icing turned out exactly right. I learned about meringue powder last year, but I didn't mix it long enough, so it took forever to dry. This year I actually followed the directions that came with it, and it turned out great! My boys look forward to it every year and it's fun to see them put more thought into it as they get older. Preston's house met with tragedy just a few short minutes after completion. The houses were sitting on the counter and he was trying to get a toy off of the cardboard his house was on, and the whole thing slipped off and crashed to the ground. Luckily it only came apart at the seams, so we can make some more 'glue' and put it back together.
