Camping!

We had our first "family" campout. I wasn't sure how it would go, because I've never been in charge before. I've always relied on my parents. I picked a spot I knew, Scout Mountain, near Pocatello. I've always loved it up there and thought it would be a great place to go for our first time. Shannon just took my word for it and tried not to worry that we'd actually be staying in a ditch by the side of the road. He was very relieved to realize that he'd actually been there before, he just didn't know the name of the place. We ended up with a really nice spot, the drive/parking spot and picnic area were cement, which came in really handy when it started raining and hailing on us at dinner time. The tree coverage provided us with some relief from the rain and we were able to cook dinner with charcoal on the grill. The boys made quick friends with the girls in the next campsite and had fun golfing and kicking around the soccer ball. We ended up hanging out in the tent for the evening watching movies because of the bad weather and Shannon and I fell alseep before the boys. We went on a quick nature walk in the morning before we packed up and headed into Pocatello. It was a quick campout, because like I said before, I didn't know how it would go. We actually had a great time inspite of the rain and hail. We'll definitely go again, but stay more than one night. If I'm going to go through all the work of packing, unpacking and packing again, it needs to be worth it.
