He's Official

Well, Michael is in...he is officially a member of the National Guard. It has taken awhile, because he need to gain weight. He had initially gained 8 pounds, but Monday when he went to "swear in" again, he had only gained 2 pounds, but the Doctor conducting the Physical passed him anyways! Michael called us at 8:30am and told us to be down to the M.E.P.S. (Military Entrance Processing Station) by 9:00. When Shannon and I got there we were told he probably wouldn't take his oath till 10:00 because there were trying to get some kids shipped off. So we waited, 10, 11, 12...finally just after 12:00 the proceeded with the Ceremony. It took all of 5 minutes and he was official!
He will not do boot camp this summer but has his first drill weekend on July 11th. Next summer 2010, on July 6th, he will be off to boot camp in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After that he will do his Radar Repair Schooling for about a year in Redstone, Alabama.

  1. Congratulations, Michael. I can't believe your life is planned out that far in advance. Radar repair schooling sounds very interesting. I am glad that let you in, because the pictures don't make it look like you put on much weight. You must have your dad's genes!

  2. Congratulations hope everything goes your way! So do you have to keep gaining weight? How would it be to have to gain weight instead of killing yourself to try to lose it!!

  6. Just a grammatical error on Scott's part. "find some clippers, recruit!" See, the comma clears it right up. : )

In other words, get busy giving him a haircut!

    Congrats, Michael.

  7. Okay, Lorinda's explanations does clear that up! He doesn't have to buzz until boot camp, but at least I'll be able to get it off his ears and collar for drill:)
