Surgery

I had the left half of my thyroid removed. It had a large nodule (goiter) attached to it, about the size of a tennis ball. It was much bigger than the doctor anticipated. Weird that it wasn't causing me any problems. I also have a nodule on my right half but not near the same size. Since the left one was benign, I weighed the pro's and con's of having the whole thyroid removed and decided to just do the left for now. I'll have an ultra sound done about every 9 months or so to keep an eye on the right half.
The surgery went well and my mom was able to come help out for a few days. I didn't really have much for her to do but it was nice having her here.
The only pain I'm experiencing is a headache and some light-headedness. Hopefully it will go away and not be thyroid related. I'll do blood work next month to see how it's functioning.

  1. Glad things went well and you are recovering. I am praying that the remainder of your thyroid will be able to pick up the slack and all will be well. Love you!
