Winter!

Since we have lived in the Boise area (about 12 years), winters have been pretty mild. I can't remember the last time tempteratures dropped as low as they have this year. For several weeks (that is a very long time around here), we would wake in the morning to single digit temps (that is extremely low for around here). One morning when it was 3 degrees, I looked outside to a see a beautiful frosted wonderland! I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful morning since moving here.

After the snow and frost, came the ice. One morning we woke up and it had been raining earlier. Everything was frozen and slippery. Here's a picture of the ice I was shoveling in the late afternoon. I tried waiting most of the day hoping it would melt.

After our first big snow fall, I took the boys sledding in the neighborhood hole!

It has finally warmed up, and we had one final snow fall before it all started to melt. On the days we walked to school it took us a little longer, but the boys enjoyed playing on the way.

This is the best snow man the boys have ever been able to build!

I am so glad the boys have had this chance to enjoy a snowy winter, even if it was a short and cold one. We don't get many opportunities like this. Nothing like when I was a kid. I hope they have many more!
