The wonders of Toys R Us
Preston has been wanting to go look at the toys are Toys R Us for a couple of weeks now, a place we rarely go. Being the brilliant mom that I am, I decided to make a deal with the boys. Their room still looked like a tornado has struck, and so Friday night, as I'm sliding toys out of the way with my foot to make a walking path from the door to their beds, I told the boys that if they had their room cleaned before 10am, we would go to Toys R Us. I told them they could not fight, they could not come wake Dad or myself, they could not wake up early to do it, and everything had to be in its designated bin, bucket or on it shelf. At 7:00am (which is actually later than usual) I could hear the boys up. At about 7:40am, they came into my room to ask if they could get on the computer. I of course asked if they had cleaned their room, and they said 'yes'. I went to their room to inspect, and I about died of shock! They had done a fabulous job! There were no random piles in the closet behind the laundry basket, there weren't toys shoved under their bed, and the room looked great! I was so proud of them! They definitely earned their day at Toys R Us. Now if I can just get them to clean that easily all the time without having to bribe them : )

That's a pretty easy bribe! Nothing wrong with that!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! I love "mom" tricks that work out for both kids and moms.
