Michael survived Basic Training and we flew out to Kentucky for his graduation! The little boys had never flown and were really excited. Preston loved everything about riding on a plane, Spencer did not. The take-off, landing and turbulence made him nervous. I told him that was alright, because there are plenty of adult who still get nervous. Despite that, they did great! We flew out on Wednesday morning and arrived in Louisville around 4:30pm where we picked up a rental car and drove to Radcliff, right by Fort Knox. Graduation was at 8:00am Thursday morning, and we left the hotel at 6:30. We had no troubles getting on base or finding the building for the graduation, but the line of people was huge! And it was only 7am. We still got good spots and we were able to see Michael. He even said he could see us! The ceremony wasn't too bad, but it was extremely hot and we were all sweating! After the Graduation we check Michael out for the day and went back to the hotel. After weeks of being told what to do and when to do it, all he wanted to do was nothing! So we hung out at the hotel, had lunch at Pizza Hut, hung out at the hotel, did a little shopping, had dinner at Arby's and then drove him back to Base. Time went by too fast. Fortunately, Michael going to the airport in the morning and not flying out till 3:15pm, and since our flight was after that, we decided to go hang out at the airport with him. It was nice to get to spend one extra day with him!
We finally arrived back home at 8:30pm last night. It was a nice trip and uneventful! Michael has his phone back and let us know that he made it to Alabama. He'll be doing his AIT (Advanced Individual Training)in Radar Repair. He is supposed to be there for about a year, but since it is more like school, he should get a few breaks here and there, so we'll probably get to see him at Thanksgiving!
