Farewell...and see ya later!

Michael is headed off to Basic Training, so for those of you who didn't know, we had a Graduation/Farewell party for him on Saturday the 3rd. He wanted Chinese food, so we order from Panda Express (made it easy on me).
We invited friends and family...my sisters Rebecca (her two kids), Elizabeth (her family) and Emily (and fiance Michael) were able to make it! They were a great help in getting the food ready on Saturday for the party.
Lots of Michaels friends came and hung out, and once the party died down Michael and his friends took off for the night.

Those of us that remained watched Emily play the Wii and then when once it got dark we let off some fireworks and the big kids raced the little kids on the Wiggle Racers (I should have gotten pictures of that). Preston was the winner...I guess being a light weight has its advantages!

I think this was the first year that Michael has been with us on the Fourth, so we decided to go watch the fireworks as a family. This was Spencer and Preston's first time seeing them and they loved them! We had a good time!

Michael had to check into the Hotel Monday around 5:00pm, and after that he wanted to have dinner at Tucanos, a Brazilian restaurant. We met up with his friends and had some tasty food and ate till we were stuffed. The servers just kept bring by samples of all different kinds of meat and they have an all you can eat salad bar. The favorite item was cooked pineapple...warm and juicy! Yum!

We said our goodbyes to Michael as he left with his friends to hangout at the hotel. In the morning he was taken to the Military Entrance Processing Center. He called around noon to tell us he was back at the hotel for the day, so he came home and slept for several hours, hung out and then had one last home cooked dinner.

His friends came and picked him up and we had them take one last picture of us (just for you Mom and Dad).
He leaves in the morning at 7:00am. We were a little worried about his weight (not being enough), but he had no problems. His orders have been changed however...so instead of going to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he is now going to Fort Knox, Kentucky. He will still be there for 10 weeks and then on to Alabama. We already miss him and we hope he does well!

  2. Wow! I'm glad he made his weight. Must have been Panda express and Tucano's. Yum! It hurt my heart to read about it though. I can't believe he is all grown up! What an experience it will be for him though.
